Auditions for Cinderella -or- Prince Charming Gets the Boot

Lubbock, TX September 8, 2017—Auditions for Lubbock Community Theatre’s Christmas Production Cinderella -or- Prince Charming Gets the Boot will be held Saturday September 16, 2017 and Sunday September 17, 2017 from 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM at Lubbock Community Theatre (LCT).

LCT is looking for nine women and nine men. Ages range from 15 to adult. LCT will also be looking for a children’s chorus with ages ranging from 8 to 14. Children’s auditions will happen mid-October on a date to be announced.

Actors should come prepared with one comedic monologue and one contemporary pop or country song. The audition material should not exceed two minutes. In lieu of a prepared song, auditioners are also welcome to sing “Happy Birthday.”

Cinderella -or- Prince Charming Gets the Boot is a panto, or a British holiday tradition in which a well-known fairy tale is adapted with local humor and references, packed with jokes, dances, and contemporary music. It engages with the audience in a way almost no other performance style does.

LCT’s Christmas production will be the first ever panto in West Texas. It needs high-energy actors with pop-music voices who desire to talk TO the audience to make a hilarious and unique version of the Cinderella story where every performance will be a little different, but all equally memorable. Pantos are musicals for ad-lib comedians.

Rehearsals for Cinderella -or- Prince Charming Gets the Boot will begin in late October, with the show running November 30- December 3 and December 7-10, 2017.
